Literature Text

Night gathered up and surrounded the day, blocking it out completely. A
light shone out in the swirling darkness. It pierced the dark and rent
it in two. She stepped out into the night across the charcoal black
grass, towards the glimmering light. Tendrils of night gently stroked
her face and hands but she walked on, drawn towards the pulsing blue
light in between the trees The silhouette of pines trees passed over the
light briefly then slipped by. Pine needles crunched under her foot as
she entered the forest. Her slim figure cloaked in gossamer silk wended
through birch, pine and oak. The light grew larger as she approached.
Tendrils of light pushed away the dark and encased her in warmth. She
reached for the orb and it burned her. Pain shot through her body and
she screamed. But no one could hear, for no one was there. No people:
they were asleep. No animals: they had fled from the thing. And she was
alone. With the thing. And her pain. But the darkness fought the light.
And took her back into its arms. And she slept. In peace. And in
darkness.
